Korn Concert Review 5/10/10 – Roseland Ballroom – New York, NY

The Jagermeister-sponsored “Korn’s Ballroom Blitz” trudged into the Roseland Ballroom on Monday, May 10th, 2010. I’m not adept at writing reviews, so I’ll keep this short and sweet.
The show was not sold out. Tickets were being sold at the window as late as ten minutes before Korn’s set. I’ve seen Korn several times, and this performance, by far, was their weakest. Jonathan Davis’ voice is shot. Fieldy is disinterested. On the bright side, Ray Luzier is an absolute beast on drums and a pleasure to watch.
Korn played all their hits to a very receptive, mainly middle-aged crowd. All the die-hards, and there were quite a few, would have enjoyed the show. Anyone on the fence, or those present solely because of Korn’s reputation of being excellent live, were surely disappointed.

Korn is Korn. They’ve sold millions and millions of records and made millions and millions of dollars. JD still puts on an energetic performance. Fieldy might look like he’s “disinterested” on stage but he’s been like that for a while. He does a lot of the behind the scenes stuff including merchandise.
It was an OK show. The show was sold out well in advance though. They made extra tickets available right before when they had extra stage space.

I myself was at the show. I have seen Korn close to 20 times and i have to say albeit being the most sober i have ever been at a show..I thought JD and the rest hit the nail right on the head as they always do. Their set list was great given the fact they have a new album coiming out this summer and i was afraid the set would have been dominated by the new stuff i didnt know. To me Feildy was playing the same way he always does, and it was cool to see Munkey actually more involved with the performance.
As far as the show not being sold out: My friends they have been selling out arenas for a very long time. To me it was weird because the show was not advertised at all. I was lucky that i saw the advertisment in a LI paper that tells about concerts..The intamacy of Roseland Ball room is like no other, and nothing beats hearing a rocking band that close and in your face…I’m done andd out and i promise i will be more F’ed up the next time i seee them

1. Where were you in relation to the stage? Were you GA or on the balcony?
2. This tour was promoted just as much as any tour. Jagermeister promoted it all over the place.
3. I’ve seen some tremendous shows at Roseland over the years.

A friend of mine was at the show and he said it was worth the money. He didn’t say much other than that.
You should have written a full review of Hole at Terminal 5. That was a show.

I’m shocked they’re still around. Their last 2 or 3 releases I couldn’t listen to. They were so bad I listened to each twice make sure and they were really that bad.

I love the “stage space” excuse. I’ve been to a billion shows at Roseland and the “stage space” is always the same.
