The average prep time for an All Knowing Force show is one, maybe two minutes. We prepped an hour for Scott Lucas. To reiterate, we’re both Local H fans. Therefore, we know Scott can be a little snarky. Luckily, the interview went well and we couldn’t be happier.
Check out the interview prior to the performance below. AWESOME.
First, let me apologize for my voice during the show. I’ve been battling the flu for several days and was heavily medicated.
My first exposure to Local H came when they opened for Silverchair during the As Good As Dead touring cycle. I immediately purchased the record, realized they had a prior release (Ham Fisted), and bought that too. Our minds weren’t logged onto the net at that time, kids. Discovering music wasn’t as simple as clicking a few buttons.
I’ve been a fan ever since. All of Local H’s LP’s are loaded into my iPod. I also have an EP in there, as well as a live album. The only other two modern bands that hold that much weight in my music collection are the Deftones and Sevendust. Scott Lucas’ lyrics are timeless. They are brutally honest, almost to the point it’s uncomfortable to listen to them (just check out 12 Angry Months).
We talked about the upcoming 6 Angry Records tour, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Stream it or download it here.

Tomorrow night at 10pm EST, All Knowing Force is honored to welcome Scott Lucas on our show. Scott Lucas is the founder of Local H, a band that Andrew and I immensely respect for not only their music, which spans over 10 years and 6 albums worth of material, but for their work ethic and fan friendly DIY approach to their career.
The band scored a major alt-rock hit with the 90’s radio mainstay “Bound For The Floor” and attracted legions of fans. However, years ago they left the major label game and never quite connected with traditional rock radio again. At the time, radio was more interested in pushing the Limp Bizkits and Linkin Parks of the world to the masses.
The funny thing is, the band have only gotten better with each and every release since taking a more DIY approach. If you were one of those that stopped paying attention, than you’ve truly been missing out. In my opinion, their last album, 12 Angry Months, was the best record released in all of 2008. I’m not joking, it’s that damn good. It’s a concept record where each track chronicles the months following a relationship breakup. To celebrate its release, Local H played a 7 night stand at Chicago’s Beat Kitchen, and played every single one of their albums in their entirety, along with a night of B-Sides and Rarities. 12 Angry Months was played on the final night and then the band hit the road, playing dates all over the country.
This year, Local H is taking this one step further and is embarking on the “6 Angry Records” tour. Each night, a fan will draw out of a hat to determine which album will be played in its entirety. Afterwards, the band will take the stage again and play another set with additional songs spanning their entire career.
Scott Lucas joins us tomorrow night and we will talk about the upcoming tour as well as his recent solo material. Lucas has always proven to be an insightful and interesting guest on other shows and we’re expecting much of the same here on All Knowing Force.

Now we’re talking!
I thought Andrew was the only one on this site that makes bold statements. Best CD of 2008? YOU’RE DAMN FUCKING RIGHT.
Nonpoint? FUCK OFF.
Last week’s show blasting KSE was awesome.
Now Scott Lucas? Who can complain?!!
Fuck yeah!
1BowlGray(Quote) (Reply)
What a throwback! I know there might be some of the younger listeners sitting there like WTF but let me say that Scott Lucas is one angry motherfucker and a god damn genius. Listen up!
sweating BULLETS(Quote) (Reply)
Scott can be a tool but he’s right about the Nirvana comparisons. The band has more parallels with Weezer than anything else with the only difference being Weezer having continued success after Pinkerton bit the big bone.
I cannot agree that 12 Angry Months is the best of 2008. I listened to it on Rhapsody. Its ashame this album wasn’t heard by more than a select few.
Can’t wait to download this on the archives!

@ 1BowlGray
What’s up, Nick? Long time listener, first time commenter?
He even made a bolder statement before he asked me to change it. I’m usually the one taking the heat around here.
I think a money show would be a group of three Sevendust, Deftones, and Local H haters in a debate with Darius and I. That would be priceless.
Are you going to the NYC show?
Andrew(Quote) (Reply)
Local H = Diamond In The Rough = Buried Treasure = LOVE SCOTT!
Vinny(Quote) (Reply)
Blast from the past! No idea these guys were still around! How come I don’t see any other sites promoting them? I’m usually up on this shit.
Oscar(Quote) (Reply)
Three things came out of that interview for me as a LONG TIME listener.
1. Great sell job on getting me to check these guys back out. I will do so on Rhapsody on my drive home for Easter.
2. Very TAME interview. There wasn’t anything wrong with it but not what I’ve come to expect from the show. You didn’t challenge him at all. Next time prep for the minute.
3. Andrew bring cut off during a political rant. Please don’t do this any more. They are train wrecks and I’ve grown to love them.
Happy Easter to you all!

I’d bet my life that if Darius didn’t cut him off that he would say the tanning tax is a specific tax that will only be paid by white people.
The tour they’re doing is an interesting concept. I never followed these guys but listened every so often. I wouldn’t want to hear the newer CD’s because after listening to them on Rhapsody they suck. Anything other than Pack up the Cats or As Good As Dead would be disappointing. 12 Angry Mos I enjoyed but wouldn’t want to hear it live.

Can this please be uploaded?

That You Tube clip has had me rolling for days.
Oscar is right. Not many other sites will give Local H publicity. I’m not sure why.
Scott appeared very mature in the AKF interview.
Cheers to the upcoming tour!
Dennis(Quote) (Reply)
By the way, what was wrong with your voice?

YOU CAN LEGALLY DOWNLOAD MP3′S from LOCAL H and SCOTT LUCAS (solo – live) on our free music page!

Dennis: He said that he was very sick in the short write up. I know he didn’t sound good but props to him for actually sucking it up and doing the show.
I can’t believe they mentioned the boat cruise! THE MOST HORRIBLE SHIT EVER!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Arched Isis Byleveling(Quote) (Reply)
Why was Heavy Metal Bake Sale his choice? That is one of their worst songs!
If you don’t own it yet, 12 Angry Months is one of the best of 2008.
I didn’t hear good things about that cruise. The sound supposedly so bad that the tunes were inaudible.
Carla(Quote) (Reply)
AKF brings in Scott Lucas, proving that after Nonpoint they still actually have taste in good music! Good show.
Lord Of Acid(Quote) (Reply)
I’ve listened to AKF for quite a while because it’s the only show that can entertain me. I have to side with the poster above about letting Andrew go on political rants. I don’t think anyone takes them seriously.
I interviewed Scott Lucas in 1998 when I was writing for a regional paper in Dallas. He seemed to have a high level of contempt for the media but overall was kind to me. I couldn’t make out if his replies were genuine or sarcastic. It was quite marvelous.
I think you guys did quite well and I noticed you didn’t cut any of the live interview out. Interviewing this guy is tough and you did a good job.
I ordered the 2008 CD on Amazon earlier today. If it isn’t as good as you profess, I’m coming back in here and demanding a refund.

I’ve watched that You Tube clip 50 times. Fucking hilarious. LMFAO!
I wonder if that’s like Good Day NY or whatever that show is with Matt Lauer here in NY.
WE LOVE BEING COMPARED TO NIRVANA!HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Get well Andrew!
Kreator(Quote) (Reply)
I was at the Roseland show you were talking about!!! I used to have a crush on Daniel Johns like you couldn’t believe until Natalie Imbruglia stole him from me!
Lori1393(Quote) (Reply)
Local H? Come on! These guys suck and have always sucked!
gblockx(Quote) (Reply)
We’ve received several emails about it, but song clips played during the show tonight were…
M83 – We Own The Sky
The Replacements – Bastards Of Young
Alien Ant Farm – Movies
Def Leppard – Gods Of War
Andrew(Quote) (Reply)
Local H sucks. The band failed because Scott Lucas has his head so far up his own ass. Nothing worse than someone that believes their own hype or in his case a lack thereof.
Underground(Quote) (Reply)
@ Underground
Local H is still putting out great music and is still profitable. Based on this and this alone, “failed” is an appropriate assessment of the band’s fortunes.
Andrew(Quote) (Reply)
It has come to my attention that our interview with Scott Lucas received scathing reviews on Local H’s forum. They’re entitled to their opinion. I don’t have time to play comment chess with Local H fans hopped up on keyboard courage. Outside of their tough guy internet persona, I’m sure they’re good people at heart.
Andrew(Quote) (Reply)
There’s still a Local H forum? Well I’ll be! Don’t mess with the H-Board. You wanna dance with the Bisquick?
Pancake Breakfast(Quote) (Reply)
@ Pancake Breakfast
“Don’t mess with the H-Board. You wanna dance with the Bisquick?”
Those are “fighting words” to all those that don’t understand Local H forum lingo.
Speaking of pancakes and syrup, has anyone ever tried that Vermont Maid syrup? It’s awful. Even if it’s on sale, don’t buy it. Heck, if they’re giving it away for free, don’t take it.

I didn’t know these folks were still in the game.
Scott is a dick. The video is funny but if he wanted to make an example of someone, why even book yourself on this show? Be mad at management.

As good as dead is one of the best albums ever recorded…everything else has been garbage. especially 12 angry months. Its the softest, weakest crap ive ever heard, and it actaully rivals greg graffins solo project in terms of pussification…play something with a testee satchel
