I ask that all touring musicians, and management, that read All Knowing Force take note of this and pass it along. New York City is at it again. They can’t manage a budget, so they base everything on non-compliance. Don’t become a victim.

Bus trailer combos are over length according to the NYCDOT and will be detained and cited. Each citation carries a fine of $330.

According to Mary Norman, Safety Director at Roberts Brothers Coach, citing NYC ordinance 4-15 (b) (4), the maximum length of a irreducible vehicle operating within the city is 55 feet.

Irreducible vehicles (semi-trucks) entering the city must obtain a permit.

It has been determined that tour buses pulling trailers are reducible which makes them illegal.

NO PERMITS ARE AVAILABLE FOR REDUCIBLE VEHICLES IN EXCESS OF 55 FEET IN LENGTH. In other words, you cannot be made legal to operate a bus/trailer combo inside New York City.

Diana Neal, spokesperson for the NYCDOT stated the only legal way for a trailer to go into the city is to be separated from the Motor Coach and “hire” someone else with a truck tractor to pull the trailer to the venues. It is quite possible that Michael Bloomberg, our animal pig mayor owns a stake in these other companies that will have to be hired.

Up until now the ordinance has not been enforced but recently all law enforcement personnel has been informed to immediately begin issuing citations and do so until further notice.
