It’s hard to believe it’s been well over two years since we last had Donald Carpenter (DC) from Eye Empire on our show. So much has happened!

Eye Empire, a collective of bad ass musicians featuring DC on vocals, Corey Lowery on bass, BC Kochmit on guitar and Ryan Bennett on drums, have essentially lived the last few years on the road, building a solid foundation and developing a reputation as one of the tightest bands on the touring circuit.

Over the last three years, Eye Empire has played over 800 shows. There’s been tons of headline runs as well as supporting gigs for Volbeat, Seether, Sevendust, Nonpoint and Five Finger Death Punch.

It’s funny how some records grow with you; I remember receiving the first Eye Empire album, Moment of Impact, and immediately loving the music. I thought it was great. But like a fine wine, it just got better with age. I have been listening to the record, in its entirety, at least once a week all year.

Clearly, the band’s hard work is paying off as this past year, the single “More Than Fate” cracked the top 30 active rock charts and started getting heavy airplay on SiriusXM Octane. The song, with its tremendous crossover leanings, helped bring more attention to the band just as they were entering the studio to work on their sophomore effort, titled Evolve.

More Than Fate

I’m blasting Evolve as I type and it’s a wonder I can even concentrate on my work. The record absolutely slams. One of the first things I notice is the production; Corey Lowery steps away from his bass duties and absolutely knocks it out of the park. Sonically speaking, it’s quite an achievement. On another note, Ryan Bennett steps up and accelerates the percussion to a level far beyond Will Hunt’s work on Moment of Impact. And for DC fans out there, either from Eye Empire or his previous band SubmerseD, you will be blown away by what you hear.

As we wrap up 2013 in the coming weeks, I feel very good about Eye Empire. With this new record and their burgeoning reputation as one of the best live bands in metal, I’m expecting a huge 2014 for the band. Absolutely huge.

Check out “The War Isn’t Over Yet” below. Blast it.

Eye Empire will surely be in a town near you sometime in the next year. MAKE SURE you go see them. Go online and purchase the new record Evolve and join the growing ranks of one of the absolute best in the business.
